Battlefield 6 Update Sparks Controversy: Players Feel Deceived by Unannounced Changes

Following the release of Battlefield 6, players have expressed frustration over the game's progression system, particularly the time-consuming process of unlocking weapon attachments. In response, the developers implemented an update to address these concerns. The changes included:

  • Increased XP Rewards: Match completion XP was raised by 10%, and daily bonuses were increased by 40%.
  • Reduced Attachment Unlock Requirements: The XP needed to unlock the first 20 weapon attachments was decreased, allowing players to acquire key attachments more quickly.
  • Lowered Assignment Unlock Levels: Assignments that previously required career levels 20, 23, and 26 to unlock were adjusted to levels 10, 15, and 20, respectively.

While these adjustments were intended to enhance player experience, some users discovered that the XP gained from AI matches was significantly reduced by approximately 80%, a change not mentioned in the official patch notes. This omission has led to accusations of deceptive practices by the developers.

In a community update, the developers acknowledged the issue, stating:

“We understand players' desire for faster progression and the ability to test loadouts in a low-pressure environment. However, this has led to unintended consequences, such as an abundance of XP farming servers, making it more difficult for players to find matches with others. We are working on adjustments to reduce the number of XP farming servers and emphasise playing with friends in both custom and official experiences.”

Despite this acknowledgement, many players feel that the reduction in AI match XP was an indirect method to discourage XP farming, rather than a transparent solution.

The community remains divided on the issue, with some supporting the developers' efforts to curb XP farming and others criticising the lack of transparency. As the developers continue to address these concerns, players are hopeful for more transparent communication and more balanced progression systems in future updates.
