September 7 — Developer Bloxhill has announced that its game Broilers (Бройлеры) is now free to claim on Steam for a limited time. Players can add the game to their library until 1:00 AM on September 14 via its Steam store page.
Broilers is a turn-based strategy game that visually resembles chess and other board games but plays very differently. The game’s core mechanics revolve around selection and breeding. Players must learn how to breed new species and traits in order to gain the upper hand in battles.

In some respects, Broilers can also be described as a tower defense (TD) game. Unlike traditional TD titles where the focus is solely on defense, here both players are responsible for defending and pushing offensively toward the opponent’s base. From this perspective, many games might seem comparable to tower defense, but what sets Broilers apart is its unique unit control system.
In Broilers, players cannot directly command units (pieces) — you can’t tell them where to go or what to do. Instead, gameplay unfolds more like being at the mercy of “minions” or automated units, much like in tower defense games. To add further depth, the game includes TD-like elements such as eggs, which can be placed on the battlefield. Eggs don’t attack enemies directly, but they serve as obstacles, blocking opponents and shaping strategic play.
