On September 8, a Reddit user named Qowudyeibflsla shared that they spotted unreleased Google Nest indoor/outdoor cameras and smart doorbells on the shelves of a retail store in the U.S.
From the images shared by the user, it is evident that these new products were locked with wire mesh, and their design remains similar to previous Nest cameras and doorbells. However, Google has highlighted "2K resolution" on the packaging.
The retail prices for the new products, as seen in the store, are as follows:
- Nest 2K Smart Doorbell: $179.99
- Nest 2K Indoor Camera: $99.99
- Nest 2K Outdoor Camera: $149.99
Another user commented under the post saying they also saw these new products "sneak" into the retail store last week, but they were refused to buy them when attempting to purchase.
Tech media outlet Android Authority speculated that these new products could be officially revealed at Google's event on October 1, where Google is also expected to unveil an upgrade to its Google Home's Gemini AI assistant. The new Google Home will allow smart speakers to understand longer and more complex voice commands, though specific details will need to wait for Google's official announcement.
