Sept 4 — NVIDIA announced last month that its GeForce Now cloud gaming service would be upgraded to RTX 5080 GPUs. Today, the company confirmed that the upgrade will officially roll out on September 10.

With the update, GeForce Now subscribers will be able to “rent” cloud GPUs equivalent to the RTX 5080, featuring a massive 48GB of VRAM and support for DLSS 4 technology.

The RTX 5080 upgrade promises major improvements in visual fidelity and frame rates:

  • Up to 60 FPS and 120 FPS at 5K resolution
  • Up to 240 FPS at 1440p
  • Up to 360 FPS at 1080p

In addition, users can enable full ray tracing with neural rendering and multi-frame generation. Notably, the GeForce Now Ultimate subscription price remains unchanged at $19.99 per month (approximately RMB 142.8 at current exchange rates).

Beyond hardware, GeForce Now is also adding 17 new titles this month. Hollow Knight: Silksong has joined the service today, while other games — including Borderlands 4, Dying Light: Beasts, Space Jump, Endless Empire 2, and Cloverpit — will roll out later in the month.

NVIDIA stated: “On Wednesday, September 10, NVIDIA Blackwell RTX GPUs will officially arrive on GeForce Now. To celebrate, next week’s GeForce Now update announcement will be released a day early, marking the beginning of the Blackwell era.”

Additionally, NVIDIA is reintroducing a highly requested feature: users will no longer have to wait for official NVIDIA integration to play new titles. With the new “Install-to-Play” feature, gamers can install supported titles directly, greatly expanding the GeForce Now library.
