Today, Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games unveiled new details and images for its upcoming single-player campaign, Squadron 42.
In an exclusive newsletter sent to backers, the studio confirmed that the project is “progressing toward its planned 2026 release date.”
Additionally, the complete map of the Odin System—the game’s main setting—was revealed, showcasing detailed information and screenshots of its various locations and points of interest.
Here’s how the studio officially describes the system:

“Centered around a white dwarf star, the Odin system may appear cold on the surface, but its unique spectral anomalies and convenient shipping hub make it well worth a visit (as long as you’re not expecting a warm welcome and a cup of hot cocoa). Explore the once-bustling Crossroads Station, venture into the perilous tunnels of the Coil, and experience the magnetic pull of the system’s breathtaking auroras.”

The newsletter also included screenshots of the map. Moreover, more information and actual gameplay footage will likely be revealed during the CitizenCon Live event, scheduled for October 11.
Squadron 42 is a single-player campaign set in the Star Citizen universe, featuring a star-studded cast including Mark Hamill, Henry Cavill, Gary Oldman, Liam Cunningham, and Gillian Anderson.
The project has been in development for over a decade, allowing fans to witness its evolution since its initial announcement.
Star Citizen itself is a crowdfunded, PC-exclusive multiplayer space simulation game directed by Chris Roberts, famed for the Wing Commander series. The game has been in development for more than ten years and has remained in beta for several of those.
Recently, the title was updated to Beta version 4.3, adding a wealth of new content.
Meanwhile, crowdfunding continues to grow, having recently surpassed $862 million. To be precise, the total currently stands at $862,148,178. The game now has 5,880,170 registered accounts, though not all are paying users—many simply registered to participate in free trial events.
