Ubisoft has once again expanded its acclaimed Discovery Tour series, this time releasing it directly as a free mobile app. The brand-new Discovery Tour: Medieval Baghdad is based on the historical recreation from Assassin’s Creed Mirage and brings 9th-century Baghdad to life. It is now available for free download on both iOS and Android.

Two Ways to Experience History
Players can explore Baghdad through two distinct modes:
- Archive Mode: A knowledge-driven experience offering curated historical records from the Abbasid Caliphate period, covering history, art, and culture. This mode also includes AR interactions, allowing players to examine and manipulate authentic historical artifacts in augmented reality.
- Explore Baghdad Mode: A narrative-driven immersive journey of about two hours, featuring 360-degree free exploration and mini-games. The goal is to collect historical archive entries scattered throughout the city.
A Collaboration with Sugar Creative
The project was co-developed with UK-based studio Sugar Creative and is also available in a web version.
Ubisoft has long been praised for its dedication to historical authenticity. The Discovery Tour series embodies this philosophy, stripping away combat and main storylines from the Assassin’s Creed franchise to focus purely on history and education.
Previous tours transported players to Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, and the Viking Age, typically as streamlined console/PC editions. With Medieval Baghdad, however, Ubisoft is making its first move into mobile platforms, perfectly aligning with the project’s “edutainment” mission.
