After originally being conceived as an expansion to Dying Light 2, Techland decided to spin the project into a standalone title, which ultimately became Dying Light: The Beast. The game is scheduled to launch on September 19, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with PS4 and Xbox One versions expected later in the year.
One of the key highlights of The Beast is the return of Kyle Crane, the protagonist familiar to fans of the original game. After 13 years of imprisonment and human experimentation, Crane is no longer fully human but a hybrid, part man and part infected. The story begins as he escapes from a mysterious antagonist known as “The Baron.”
The setting takes players to Castor Woods—once a thriving tourist destination, now transformed into a desolate wasteland overrun by the undead.
Following a short delay, Dying Light: The Beast will launch later this month on September 19. In addition to PC, the game will also be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. Techland has also shared the official PC and laptop requirements for the game.
